500' Rule Passes
The Villager gets word that State Senator Daniel Squadron and Assemblymember Robin Schimminger's (Buffalo) legislation strengthening the 500-foot rule, passed both branches of the State legislature and were off to Governor Patterson's office for signature. It is expected to happen. David Rabin and Uncle Stevie will now cry in their corn flakes.

i'm not crying in my corn flakes i'm trying to do something about it besides talk and tears. with david rabin, robert bookman , paul seres, matt isaacs , ariel palitz and the nyna, nysra and npc we are getting ready to endorse and put our huge email and text lists to use to get some pro night candidates nominated and then elected this fall. the speed of this legislation in getting before the governor is frightening. legislation that can destroy segments of the nightlife community can be passed in only a few months. we knew we would lose this one but hope to get some wins this election year. help us motivate the public. a few key victories and politicians will take us very seriously
this is just a return to the status quo. it's a response to a recent court ruling weakening the old 500 foot rule. now the rule has been put back to the way it's been for at least the last 10 years. it changes nothing.
