Quick Hits: Monday Afternoon Is Popping

Whoa! What was that? QUICK HITS! Lots of goodies to report on from around the way, so let's get to it.

  • Is it officially over for the Bea? According to Page Six, the answer is a resounding Yes, with NIMBY's lined up to do everything in their power to prevent our little girl from ever re-opening. Sounds bleak, but perhaps their is some light at the back of that little dark room. A Little Birdy on the inside told DBTH recently that it may not be curtains for the Beatrice, so flame away if you want, but we hold out hope. [P6]
  • Our main main Steve Lewis sits down with Genc Jakupi to talk about how amazing the Box was, is, and always will be. As for people who have to wait, well, everyone waits or pays the consequences. Is it just us, or do his interviews break some kind of world record for the most statements and fewest questions? So it's not just us? [BB]
  • Mr. MePa has the juice on what to expect from the Meatpacking District 3.0, including the planned retractable roof on Provocateur, and the 18th Floor Standard cocktail lounge that is coated in gold. [GSNY]
  • Speaking of gold, have you heard about this new hot spot, Goldbar? Did you know Lenny Kravitz loves it there? What do you mean you do? That's old news? You don't say? [NYT]

I would expect Uncle Stevie to be a pansy and not talk about the Noah Tepperberg incident at the Box.

But DBTH - I really thought you had more balls...

Noah really does run NY nightlife. Every aspect; Bottom line.

We don't know the story, so why don't you go ahead and tell us.

i already addressed the noah incident in a separate post when it happened. there was no need to bring it up again, my story was about genc not necessarily the box. i don't go the box often 3x in total and one time i waited 10 minutes. i didn't mind. i speak about noah as i see it sometimes not so flattering sometimes very. he doesnt run me. pay me, or own me. however, i and almost everyone in the biz respects him. he is a sharp an honest businessman, i also consider him a friend

oh and btw blah stop hiding behind the name and call me a pansy to my face,,, oh and by the way most of my friends are indeed pansies, or fruit flies, or something like that so i don't consider it a slur really.. so don't be afraid you can call me a pansy to my face.. i love all you losers who spout your crap while hiding behind phoney names. my god at least scott and rachelle and brittney and abbe are standing by their words . why are you afraid to use your own good name.. i guess it aint so good..

It's not that I'm afraid to use my own name, I simply choose anonymity; psshhh – get over it, it’s the INTERNET. If I wrote a blog that was considered to be the top industry blogs in the city (which you and Scott both do), perhaps I would drop my name. Alas, I do not. I suppose I did bash you a bit, Uncle Stevie, and I'm sorry. I love your blog, and I have honestly read every single day since your first post on JoonBug. (maybe not evvverrrryyy single day, but pretty damn close.)

HOWEVER – you are a bit soft on people. And honestly - I do think you would shy away when there was a topic that could be considered sensitive, BUT that people would find highly entertaining; such as Noah Tepperberg getting beeyotch-slapped outside the box. Childish as that may sound.

Now, it has been my experience that DBTH does NOT shy away from anything. If there’s a story, DBTH will cover it – regardless who is involved. I think people will whole heartedly agree with me on that. DBTH just has that grittyness that the rest lack.

For the record – I think Noah Tepperberg is one of the smartest players nightlife (New York, or elsewhere) has ever seen. BUT – him getting bitch slapped by the doorman of the Box is just too juicy to not be covered. That said, I think the top is dead now. Noah will continue killing every club he opens, and the dude from the box will do whatevers… Just thought this story might have more of a buzz; considering the Wass incident made Page 6 – you would think a story like this, involving 2 notables (one a very boldface notable), would get some airtime.

@sucka...

translation = noah has been, and will continue to be very successful in the nightlife.
