Pickle Juice With Your Whiskey
More fun with booze. A Little Birdy told us that the Rusty Knot is serving up shots of Jameson with a pickle juice chaser. That's right, we said pickle juice. It may sound crazy to you, but pickle juice is actually known to be an effective tool against dehydration. And for any of you who have ever really tied one on, you are well aware that over-consumption of alcohol definitely causes dehydration. So before you go calling someone crazy, know that the good folks at the Knot have your best interests at heart.
UPDATE: A spokesman from the Rusty Knot tells us that it's called a Pickleback and the combo is "Awesome".

Welcome to the pickle back revolution, but Randolphs does it better.
Randolph has been serving picklebacks since Clinton administration. But way to catch up Rusty Knot.
Not to mention Bushwick Country Club and Savalas in Williamsburg have also been serving that forever.
Several places have done this for A LONG TIME before that shithole, nautical rip-off RUSTY KNOT jumped on the pickle-juice bandwagon.

DBTH needs the late pass here not the Knot. They have been serving them up for some time, don't think they are claiming to invent the wheel here. Also is great combo with Bourbon...and many of the BBQ joints set that up.

I work at the Randolph and we did not invent the pickleback. We like to think we picked up the ball and ran with it, but it wasn't our idea. Honestly, we got it from the Rusty Knot. It's a great fucking shot. Just saying the word "pickleback" rules.
Without any scientific methodology, I have loosely traced it back to Texas to a small BBQ joint outside of San Antonio called Marcy's Chophouse (long since out of business). Word has it they served it with bourbon and being a frugal joint, rather than throwing away the pickle brine, they served it with some good old fashioned Kentucky sipping tea. Ya see, pickles were a great way to make people thirsty at the bar (read: salt). There's a large gap in this saga that skipped across the country to New York to the Bushwick Country Club, Whiskeytown, then to various doomed establishments, then to the Rusty Knot, then to us.
We all do it differently, we all rule for having it, you're a clown for not having tried one. Activate. Try all of ours, they're all radical.

For the record, Reggie C at Bushwick Country Club introduced it to the Brooklyn masses and coined the phrase "pickleback"
