Provocateur: The Return of Satsky and Gefter

It's been a long time coming, but the best things come to those who wait. 18 months since Stereo closed and after months of rumors and the news that another operator was involved with the space, Iron Mike Satsky and Brian Gefter are ready to announce their latest venture, Provocateur, at the Gansevoort Hotel. A Little Birdy happened on the scene as the finishing touches were being made to the billboard, saying that Satsky himself was watching the artist at work. That's him there in the bottom right. Branding itself "The ♡ of International Nightlife", this announcement clearly signals the beginning of the end for Garden of Ono, and shows the level of commitment that New York's nightlife community has for the Meatpacking District. And they use a billboard to annouce it - how old fashioned! Coming soon!

Wait.... they leave a trail of burned investors, unpaid bills, numerous assaults and thefts in past "clubs", Plus a never ending lust for the bottom rung of the social pool.
and they open in this hotel... I can hear the first bottle being smashed upon the head of a guido now like a soft serene lullaby. Oh what fresh hell is this...

at least they get the a-list guidos from long island

well given that the Gansevoort already has TweedleDee Richie Romero and Tweedledumbass Tony Theodore running the roof, maybe it fits? How bout we get David Jaffee as promotional director of the 5th floor of the hotel.

Hey how high can you stack shit on the corner of 13th and 9th?

They put the billboard up in "response" to EMM Group's huge billboard / media wall draped over the construction entrance of the Lotus space to turn it into a dick swinging contest between the two "companies", reference Down By The Hipster : http://www.downbythehipster.com/blog/2008/1/16/royal-rumble-tenjune-vs-stereo.html

Thank you Mayor Mike for putting out the tables and chairs on 9th & 14th, so we can all sit back and enjoy the show. Maybe we can set up another brunch party in the street to watch the fireworks, and get pop burger to sponsor the food?

This club is going to be sickkk. there is no where to go out anymore.. all the surrounding bars are filled with underaged kids trying to pay there way in. Provocateur will be the next big thing in the city. Gefter and Satsky proved themselves with Lilly Pond- i can not wait for this club to open in the fall!

i hear if this nightclub goes as planned, it will revolutionize the nightlife in new york city

LMFAO - ummmm wasn't Stereo just full of underage "kids" - please bro, come up with a fucking new business model already.

Lilly Pond? does Scott and Ritchie know those clowns are trying to say they did any work, except collect the weekly check of $1200.00 each before cutting up to the 9 sub-promoters working for them... Yup- 1200.00 Big , Big bucks....

Stereo got closed 3 times for Underage.

Your post just made my day "I rest my case ur honor"..... let's see - $1,200 divided by 9 promoters, $300 for Mike, $75 for Unik, $75 for Kyky, $75 for Dimitri, so on and so on and so on.......Ahhh the jet set life.

Wow, this is more proof that nightlife is at an all low if people are deeming these two dudes anything, but, crooks and clowns. This spot is doomed for failure and nothing but a PR shame. Gefter is a little dude with no class, how anyone does business with them is funny. That is all...

this spot is overdue.... i'm surprised they chose this location though... i had heard they were doing something in SoHo or NoLiTa... oh well, it will be interesting to see how this develops and when they actually open...

looks like the money from lily pond will be dumped into provocateur...

where exactly are they opening in the hotel???

where the garden of ono outdoor area is???

I heard from a VERY reliable source that gefter is taking growth hormones to get taller

Gefter wears cute polo knitted sweaters draped over his shoulders; epitome of style!!!

July 17, 2009 at 10:05PM | Unregistered Commenterexperienced

Satsky and Geftner equal recipe for disaster.. they have never owned anything before.. what they know how to do is overpay for celebs and put underage jewish parties together.. and gefter is good at screwing promoters over and over promising.. i heard these guys were doing head shots in the lobby.. guess they are going to put their pictures up on their billboard.. good self-promotion loosers..

Brian is a midget and Satsky loves his height. Its perfect size to give him brain all day long.

July 20, 2009 at 04:44PM | Unregistered CommenterNYCMAN

Im taller than Eugene, Way Taller Than Little Noah Tepperberg, and I tower Midget Richie!!! I love Sweaters. Im the man... yours truly, Brian Gefter III

Still robbing people huh? Shame on you Brian

July 30, 2009 at 12:54PM | Unregistered Commentersuzanne

What's funny about this situation is that Gefter and Satsky take themselves seriously. Everyone in Manhattan knows that they are both a complete joke. They are 33 year old club promoters who still rip off their college kid subpromoters without paying them for bringing in the underage guidos and guidettes. Gefter and Satsky masquerade as club "owners" when in fact they are just paid a pittance salary by the real club owners to be promotional directors. Does it also strike you as strange that all of the club "owners" in the city are all under 5 feet 6 inches tall? Giving free grey goose must be the only way they can get laid.
