I worked at plumm as a promoter off and on for over a year.It was not my favorite club of all time however i always did get paid even though late at times. I also think noel is a ok guy he always did as promised and i also liked tom as well.The people spreading this bs probably did not come through on their part of the bargain anyway they need to move on.

My group,"Noel Ashman Screwed Me Out of Money (and I'm Suing!)" was not formed to embarass or to defame anyone . Rather, I formed it to reach out to other employees who may have been defrauded by Mr. Ashman. I am an investigator conducting research on this case and though I cannot comment on the details I do want to make clear that this issue transcends nasty club gossip and innuendo. It is very very serious and the amount of money Mr.Ashman may have appropriated from his employees could be in the six figures.

The matter is being pursued along two avenues,criminal and civil: there is an ongoing investigation by the NYC D.A.s Office and I am very confident Mr. Ashman will ultimately be indicted. There will also be a class action suit against Mr. Ashman brought by his ex-employees and contractors. Although the corporate entity which held the nighclub is presumably defunct, the operators can be held personally liable and there is plenty of precedent for this.

My thanks to Down By The Hipster for posting this story. Hopefully the publicity will draw other former Plumm employees to my group so that I can interview them. If you worked at The Plumm and you are owed wages or credit card tips please contact me .

I would like to ask, what more of coming through can a bartender do? We show up, serve drinks, don't steal and sometimes get drinks thrown at us.

When someone is presenting you with checks, knowing full welll that the check will be returned for insufficient funds, is that not deceptive? When you have to show that Con Ed is about to turn off your lights for him to throw you the money that you were due from last July...this is a man that you considered cool?

When you are working at a place you enjoy, you most likely aren't on the hunt for more work because as far as you're concerned, you're doing ok. So when 3 weeks of checks hit your bank account and bounce,leaving you with creditors calling you for all the checks you bounced on them. That has a negative effect on your credit score, your good standing as a customer/tenant to whomever you owe.

Employees used to have to come in at 1am to hope to get cash for their bad checks only to still be there at 5am with no money and Mr. Ashman refusing to come out of his office

As a promoter, you probably have other work, but I assure you many of us bartenders and waitstaff had 5 days that we had to show up there, so this was our main bread and butter while we tried to stride through in other things of life.

Bartender said it all! Thank You for perfectly summing up what so many of us went through (not threw, moron) at The Plumm. Thing is the Plumm owed everybody money: DJs, Promoters, Bartenders, Barbacks, Waitresses, Bus Boys, Porters, Security Guards, Doormen, Bottle Hosts in addition to its operating expenses which it never paid either obviously. Im sure the managers and Noel paid themselves but we were always weeks behind and the last priority. Now I can't speak for the promoters and what they brought and didn't bring or any of that and if they didn't come through on their part of the deal which is very possible given the fact that the place was never busy. But we did our job serving our customers and Noel figured he would help himself to our credit card tips. I hope he does get arrested and gets punished like any other common thief.

I have been worked for and been friends with noel ashman for many years and iam sure i have known him longer than any of the people on this site. I have sometimes had a rocky relationship with him at times and i am not presently talking to him now and i am sure he would not appreciate my comments,but anyone who questions his character are way out of line. A few years back a family member of mine had a serious emergency noel without delay gave me a substancial amount of money out of his pocket and never once asked for it back and i will never forget it. I have seen him do things like this many times with lots of different people from promoters to waitresses etc. iam sure some people on this site has reasonable issues with the corporation plumm but noel is a stand up guy in a very tough business. thank you

I worked at the Plumm as a bartender. Throughout my tenure, not one single paycheck (consisting of my credit card tips) was ever cashed. Not one! That is over $2,000 that I could really use in this 'tough economy'. If folks want to use this forum to bash Noel that is their right but I only want to state facts. To me a stand up guy simply does not pocket the credit card tips that his employees earn. That is what occurred at The Plumm and it happened to me and to my co-workers and I know it happened to others before me. So I really would like to hear anyone out there justify this . And what added insult to injury at this place was that the promoters were getting paid and I couldn't merely collect my cc tips. I know promoters were geting paid because the payments often came out of my register. I do not know Noel. He never spoke to me. But this was my experiience. Peace.

Honestly, I dont know Noel Ashman. I think I've been to Plumm once and not impressed at all. I dont work in the Nightlife industry, I don't come close to working in it. But one thing I know is that there has always been rumors right or wrong about Noel Ashman not paying employees etc. So my question is Why did you continue working for him, or even start working for him if he had such a reputation? I would have left at the very first check that was bounced. If you can get a job at a place like Plumm I'm sure some other places would hire as well.

You have to admit, its pretty amazing when such a wide variety of people, from all over, performing a wide variety of services, can all agree that Chris Reda pays nobody and is totally shady with money. HOW do these people stay in business with that reputation?

I know Noel for 15 yrs. He has helped me when I needed it...twice. Thats not enough though. He never payed me on time, he always bounced my checks, and i experienced and watched people stand outside his office begging everytime they needed a check. EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!! I had to stop putting his checks in the bank and quit eventually because of the fees i was incurring. I really wanted to like Noel. I believe if he fed his army he would have been a legend in the biz. He started this shit long ago and was on top but for some reason started shitting on everyone. I wish him no harm but his employees are not lying and anyone who says different just does not know him. Hes been conducting business terribly since Veruka closed. He most likely didnt steal but just didnt have the money and didnt want to admit the failure. NOEL!!! U SHOULD HAVE JUST RESPECTED US!! YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN ON TOP!!
