The Simple Things

In these heady times, we often have to remember the simple things in life that bring us pleasure and make us happy. This week TONY's Public Eye finds Eldridge Doorman Extraordinaire Naeem Delbridge on the street returning from the gym. So hung over from 'work' that he was 'shaking', Naeem goes on to explain that he doesn't judge people at the door at the Eldridge... but he judges them. Or, whatever. We learn about doorman reciprocity and that if Naeem does go out anywhere other than the closet-sized Eldridge he goes to 1Oak, and explains that he is 'normal' because he goes vintage t-shirt shopping at Star Struck in the West Village (they pull shirts for him!).

However the money quote comes at the end when Naeem reflects on the 'simple things' that make him happy:

“I’m not going to change the world. Simple things make me happy: clothes, money and having great friends.”

That's it... clothes and money.  Oh, and friends.  How prescient!

this douche works a door at club that has one toilet and holds 40-50 people comfortably. He might as well work the door to his apartment

this guy is one of the biggest turds in ny nightlife. a fucking lush whose pointless existence will come to an end and will find himself home on the backwoods of georgia with nothing to say for his life.

"I’m very picky. I go to the Charles, the Waverly. Koi, Pastis, restaurants like that." Nice, didnt know that Koi was so picky. Basically, I go to restaurants that serve shitty food are full of wannabe scenesters.

Do people not like him because they couldn't get into the Eldridge? He seems to be doing pretty well for himself and working the door of an exclusive club seems to be a good way to network. Stop hating!!!

Anybody who is somebody doesnt waste anytime with this joker and his joker boss Matt Levine. These guys are novices. The crowd at Eldridge is shit and that door has no credibility. LES might as well be MacDougal Street filled with tourists and college kids. Matt Levine has NO quality at The Eldridge. Same for the Rivington. The Rivington is also a novice venture with a bunch of c-list nobodys working for Matt. No one I have ever seen in nightlife before from doorman to bartenders. Lets see how long till Matt is out of that already failed venture. Being a cocktail waitress for 8 yrs in NYC I have worked with MANY MANY successful people. My friend cocktailed for The Eldridge and made no money and quit and was treated horribly. Sorry to be bitter but I just dont like people who are not nice to other people.

Naeem is the douchiest doorman in the city. He might be just as bad as max from Goldbar when it first opened - if not worst. To be honest - I've only tried/been once but I have NO desire to go back. Ever. He was such a little bitch at the door it sort of threw off my whole night. We had to pull the "friends w/the owner" card (which really was true for my friend) so after he rolled his eyes at us after receiving a text from him, he begrudgingly opened the door. The only reason I actually went in after all of his attitude is because I wanted to see if the hype was true. I walked in and literally said "this is IT?" Such a disappointment. They keep him at the door to keep the attractive and interesting people out so word doesn't spread that the place SUCKS. I was probably the most attractive person in there and that for SURE is not saying a whole lot. That's just sad!
