Any place that is already going down (come on, you know it!) and begins to give you your tips in a check instead of bucking up like a gentleman at the end of the night- QUIT! Anyone with any experience in this industry knows that if a place doesn't have the CASH flow to be able to pay out credit card tips at the end of the night is a risk to stay employed at. Why do you think all the names on Crane's list sound like they are 1st generation off the boat- they're the easiest to scam. Don't get me wrong, no one should get ripped off, but once you know you are being taken advantage with, it's YOUR responsibility to leave and find a new home. Naivite or laziness is no excuse- if your employer is falling apart it's time to hit the bricks and find a new job.

As an owner of a nightclub I will ask you geniuses this; If you get tipped on a credit card, why on Earth would any business ADVANCE YOU MONEY without receiving payment first? Until the charge goes into the account and the charge is NOT DISPUTED, the business has a receivable, not money you ignorant losers that can't do anything or run a business. THAT is why all these fucking nightclubs go out of business. Just so you monkeys know, Strategic Group pays their employees via CHECK. Why would a business owner create a liability AND open himself up for an audit by doling out cash to mindless, jaded cocktail waitresses and bartenders that, for what ever reason, feel they are entitled to so much? These so called "douche bags" owners are the people that CREATE A PLACE FOR YOU TO "WORK". Where are the complaints when the clubs first open and everyone is making money? It's when times are bad, when the club loses luster and revenue falter (as they do in EVERY CLUB) do the ingrates come out from under there rocks, slithering on their bellies to complain about life not being fair... Go out and raise a couple million dollars, open up a nightclub and do it yourselves. If not, keep your mouths shut and be grateful that any of you are making the money that you do, for we all know that 99% of all those that WORK in nightlife couldn't do anything else....

i'll have you know it was quite standard practice for the 20 some odd years i worked within the industry for credit card tips to be paid nightly from cash collected. if indeed a "chargeback" occurred (rather rare, actually) the "business" can then very easily deduct the amount from the "future" earnings of an employee.

according to the Dept of Labor, however, employees are NOT required to be responsible for "chargebacks" (nor "walkouts" nor "theft of services"). so your point is completely moot anyway.

also-- as for your "CREATING A PLACE TO WORK"-- i can assure you, you would have NO BUSINESS AT ALL if not for the "workers."
yes, when times are good, you have to pay up. but when times are bad-- guess what-- you STILL have to pay up. or file for bankruptcy (a form of operators' protection) and close your non-viable enterprise. this is the LAW (a form of workers' protection).

if you don't like the laws set forth by the Dept of Labor and upheld by the Supreme Court, then perhaps you should consider another form of livelihood than entrepreneurialship.

Since you seem to be ignorant of the advent of something called credit cards, what you thus are asking for is the owner to pay IN ADVANCE the tips BEFORE they receive the money in their account. Are you willing to pay interest for the loan? (See payday loan interest rates in NY State) Not once did I or any self respecting business person would EVER hold the person accountable for a charge back of the product; the tips however, you talking chimp, ARE SUBJECT TO BEING PAID BACK since, in effect, the tip was never received. Funniest of all, I love people who claim "Standard Practice for X amount of years" tell that to GM and every other industry with that type of mentality. Business is about survival of the fittest, but you wouldn't know anything about that since all you have done is be a parasite (promoter = parasite, it's science. look it up)...

As for credit cards existing twenty years ago, I see that your ignorance knows no limits. The percentage of americans under the age of 30 with credit cards twenty years ago was less than 15%. Thus, your cash vs credit card receipts were inverse from where they are today. Again, you state (in vulgar terms, but I see that your mother did not teach you how to speak like a lady) that the operator should take the cash and pay the staff's tips on the said night. Again, you make an assumption that you DESERVE something for nothing. And yes, interest is charged not on three days, but on half days you twit. But again, you know nothing of finance, nor business for that matter and lastly, you know naught on how to have a civilized debate. You resort to cursing like a savage animal. I am sure that you will go very far in life and that your children (if you have any) would be very proud of their mother's language.

As for the costs of in house accounting vs having a manager do it; That is so laughable. Would you want a nurse to perform open heart surgery on you because she is already there and it's cheaper? Again, your knowledge of business is miniscule at best.
